Book club update
It has been a while since our last book club update. The “book club” that has sort of gone down the drain. The whole student-cheapness factor is impeding our progress, since we chose some pretty popular books that were not available at the local library. And passing around a book between all book-club members isn’t the most conducive method to having a book-club in the first place. And honestly, I’m not really the book-discussing-type anyways – ask me about pulmonary hypertension and we’ll have a good discussion, but there’s a reason I’m a science student.
Anyways, the last book we read was The Namesake, by Jhumpa Lahiri. It was awesome. The movie is actually out in theatres now (which I will see on Friday thanks to some very handy free passes and an old friend), but the book was much enjoyed by all. I’m too busy to write a full report right now, so go read it for yourself! Slackers.
The next book was chosen due to the serendipitous (I love the movie!) fact that a couple friends and I happened to be “reading” it at the same time. And it’s supposed to be pretty good (of course!). I say “reading” in quotations, because we are all way too busy with exams/essays/committee meetings/school in general that we don’t have too much time for extra reading…therefore, our book-club deadline is May 15th. A couple months should be enough for Arundhati Roy’s The God of Small Things, I think.
Life in general shall return at the end of April, after committee meetings and essays and presentations are over. Hopefully we’ll survive this month.
On a bright (and completely unrelated) note, I won my first Timmy’s roll up the rim today! Can you believe it? I must have bought at least 30 steeped teas, and this is the first win. It was quite exciting, to say the least.
Short, sweet ranting
With way too much work to update (I’m sorry! I miss you blog!), I have to post the bane of my existence recently. I believe in this case, a picture is worth a million words:
I swear it’s fixed. The Timmy’s at the hospital is doomed to sell losing cups. This has been the least productive Roll up the Rim season EVER! Hm. Maybe all those free coffees are being sacrificed for something bigger, perhaps? Cars? Money? Ipod nanos? Whatever. I wanna see some payback Tim Horton, or else.
